Overview
Cross docking is a logistic procedure where a product received from a purchase order is immediately shipped to customer without getting sorted in the warehouse.
To efficiently manage cross dock products, Boostmyshop provides 2 specific features:
- Identify cross dock products easily during purchase order reception
- Directly ship these products retrieving related orders automatically
Configuration
To enable the cross dock feature, go in your account settings, select "Order preparation" tab and enable option "Enable cross docking product barcode read" under the packing section :
Identify crossdock products during PO reception
When you process a reception, if you scan a product required for cross dock, a double beep is played and the quantity needed for cross dock is also displayed in the "Cross dock" column:
In the example above, you received 2 pieces for the first product but only one is needed for cross docking.
When you process a reception, the goal is to put on the side all products needed for cross dock orders.
Note: this feature is also available when you create a free reception.
Direct shipping for cross dock products
Once products are received, you can directly switch to the Order preparation screen to ship cross dock products.
Go in order preparation screen, select the packing step and simply scan a product from the cross dock stack.
The system will automatically pick the first order with this product, add it in in progress tab and display product details.
You can then complete the packing to ship the order
Limitations
- These feature is not available on Boostmyshop Mobile Application
- Boostmyshop only supports cross dock for orders with a single item. If an order contains several items, they wont be considered as cross dock products.
