The Disable Stock Reservation functionality allows users to manually release reserved inventory from an order. When stock reservation is disabled, the reserved quantities are released and returned to available inventory, making them eligible for allocation to other orders.
This action is useful when an order should no longer block stock but is not canceled.
Module: Orders
Screen: Order View
Action: Disable Stock Reservation button
The button is available directly on the Order Detail View.
When the Disable Stock Reservation button is used:
All reserved stock for the order is released
Inventory is returned to available stock
The order no longer holds any reservations
The order itself remains active in the system
Note: This action does not cancel or delete the order.
⚠️ Important
The order must be in In Processing status in order to disable stock reservation.
The button is only visible or enabled when the order status is In Processing
If the order is in any other status, the action is not available
Use this feature in the following scenarios:
The order is in In Processing status but temporarily on hold
Stock was reserved too early
The order requires correction or modification
Inventory must be reallocated to higher-priority orders
Customer has requested a delay before fulfillment
Open the Order View for the required order
Verify the order status is In Processing
Locate the Disable Stock Reservation button
Click the button
Confirm the action when prompted
Once confirmed, the stock is immediately released back into inventory.
The Disable Stock Reservation button is available only when all of the following conditions are met:
Order status is In Processing
The order has active stock reservations
The order has not been shipped or completed
The user has sufficient permissions
After stock reservation is disabled:
Inventory availability is recalculated immediately
Released stock becomes available for other orders
Other orders may automatically reserve the newly available stock
The order remains unallocated until stock is re-reserved
Behavior depends on allocation and automation rules.
If stock needs to be reserved again, it can be done by:
Re-running the allocation process
Updating the order status
Manually triggering stock reservation.
Important: Once stock is released, availability is not guaranteed.
This action may be restricted to specific user roles (e.g. Admin, Operations Manager)
The system records:
User performing the action
Date and time
Order reference
Released quantities
Released stock may be allocated immediately to other orders
Use caution when handling priority or time-sensitive orders
Always confirm the order should not be fulfilled before disabling stock reservation
