Stock movements

Overview

Stock movements are the way Connect manage products stock changes.

They are automatically created in some cases :
  1. On order shipments, ordered items stock is decreased by stock movements creation.
  2. On purchase order deliveries, ordered items stock is increased by stock movements.
  3. On any stock change from the Bulk editor, a stock movement is created with "System" category is created.

You can find a stock movements grid is in two different places in Connect :

1. Global Grid :

This grid is available from menu :

Inventory >> Stock movements





 2. Product Grid : Products >> Choose a product from the grid >> stock movement tab (this grid will specify only stock movement for the particular product)




Create a manual stock movement

When you need to update a physical stock level, the best practice is to go to the product view screen, scroll to the “NEW STOCK MOVEMENT” section and create the stock movement.

Stock movement structure

A stock movement is composed of the following information :

Fields
Description
From
This is the warehouse where the product comes from: it can be empty if the product comes from a warehouse that you do not manage (from a supplier for a PO receiving, or from a customer for return)
To
This is the warehouse where the product goes to : it can be empty if the warehouse is out of your control (when you ship an order to a customer for instance)
Quantity
The quantity to move. This quantity will be decreased for the “from” warehouse, and increased for the “target warehouse. The quantity is always positive.
Category
Select a category. This is for information only, it has no impact on the stock movement
Comment
Required, you must explain why you create the stock movement.


Examples


A stock movement can be used to increase / decrease or transfer stock between warehouses.

Stock movement to remove 3 units in Paris warehouse : 



Stock movement to add 6 units in Paris warehouse : 



Stock movement to move 2 units from Paris to New york :





Track movements


From the product view screen, you will be able to update New stock movement by filling From, To, Qty, Category and Comments



This stock movement will be noted on the :
  1. Products >> Choose a product from the grid >> stock movement tab (this grid will specify only stock movement for the particular product)

The column description :


Fields
Description
Date
The date and time on which the stock-movement is taking place
SKU
SKU of the product for which the stock movement is happening
Product
Name of the product for which the stock movement is happening
From
This is the warehouse where the product comes from: it can be empty if the product comes from a warehouse that you do not manage (from a supplier for a PO receiving, or from a customer for return)
To
This is the warehouse where the product goes to : it can be empty if the warehouse is out of your control (when you ship an order to a customer for instance)

Comments

Users
The admin name will be showed here to have track of who is making changes on what.
UID
The shipping ID that is generated when the order is shipped and the inventory gets reduced.
Logs
Creates logs for all the stock-movement. If any issues this logs will help you to understand the issues easily.
Delete
Retains the deleted inventory to its respective warehouse / products.

Product

Products >> Choose a product from the grid >> stock movement tab (this grid will specify only stock movement for the particular product)

The column description is same as the Global Grid of Stock movement.
